Chiropractic & The Nervous System

We live our life through the nervous system. Every second of every day, our nervous system perceives the world around us and directs the body to adapt to the physical, chemical, and emotional changes around us. When the spine shifts, or subluxates, it can compromise the nervous system, interfering with its ability to regulate, coordinate, and heal. Over time, this leads a downward spiral in physical comfort, emotional stability, and overall well-being. Rather than continually chasing symptoms, chiropractors focus on that neuro-spinal relationship, restoring normal function and allowing the body to do what it’s supposed to do.

There are many reasons people choose to visit a chiropractor.

“The beauty about Chiropractic is the fact that it works with natural means.  It puts nothing new into the body, nor does it take away any natural gland or organ.  Chiropractic simply releases life forces within the body, sets free rivulets of energy over nerves, and let’s nature do her work in a normal manner.”

Our Approach to Chiropractic Care

They are sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Most people that choose to come to Well Rooted Chiropractic are looking for alternative options to drugs and surgery.  Many people are familiar with utilizing chiropractic care for neck pain, back pain, sciatica, migraines and headaches.  Many practices focus on alleviating symptoms and helping people feel better.  Often, they do a good job.  But reducing symptoms without addressing the underlying cause can be a recipe for those complaints to return later, worse.  Our office focuses on correcting, stabilizing, and maintaining the normal function of the spine and nervous system to improve overall well-being long-term. Many people choose our office to help with other issues which include menstrual pain, fibromyalgia, sleeping problems, anxiety and digestive disorders.  If you fall into this group chiropractic may be a great option for you!  By adjusting the spine, chiropractors help restore normal nervous system function so the body can regulate and heal itself.

They are healthy and want to stay healthy.

Your nervous system controls everything in the body.  Making sure it is functioning without interference from spinal subluxations is important.  When the nervous system is not functioning properly, it affects the immune system, digestive system, musculoskeletal system and every part of the body that receives nerve stimulation.  Many individuals utilize chiropractic care as a safe and natural approach to keeping the nervous system functioning properly so they can be as healthy as possible!

Our care is specific to your individual needs and varies based on a multitude of factors.  We utilize varying techniques based on what we feel is best as well as taking into account patient preference.  Techniques utilized in the office include Diversified, Sacro-occipital Technique, Activator, Thompson, Flexion-Distraction, Webster Technique Certified, and Logan Basic.

Our office has additional training and certifications to better care for our patients.  That’s why we are the preferred chiropractor for many providers including midwives, obstetricians, pediatricians and doulas throughout St. Louis.  We utilize a spinal scanner to evaluate the integrity and health of your spine and evaluate heart rate variability to determine how your body is able to respond to stress.

Every time a person receives a chiropractic adjustment, it positively affects the brain and nervous system. This positive effect on the brain promotes a state of ease and well-being within the body.

I started there after throwing my back out on Christmas.  My back would lock up and be in so much pain I would get stuck in positions.  After a great recommendation from a friend, I went to her.  What a difference she made! I went from not being able to stand up straight or to even roll over in bed to absolutely feeling perfect.  Dr. Brooks is so smart, she listens to everything that you are saying and has great insight to all your pains.  So, if you are not up to par, feeling a little old getting around, chances are your spine needs adjusting and kept that way.  Mine sure did!
